Padmini Varkey Memorial Award 2021 will be given to Deepa Joseph, the first woman ambulance driver in Kerala. Deepa deserves the award for her courage and commitment to saving the lives of many, including Covid. 

Education Minister V Sivankutty will present the award on 12 December 2021, the anniversary of Padmini Varkey's death. OS Ambika MLA, Women's Commission Chairperson Sati Devi, Planning Board members Mini Sukumar and Geeta Nazir will be present at the function to be held at Hassan Marakkar Hall at 2.30 pm. 

The Devaki Warrier Memorial Literary Awards, which were postponed to 2020 due to Kovid, will also be presented on the same day. Megha Radhakrishnan is the award winner. Snehalatha will present a story about Devaki Warrier.
