The award instituted in loving memory of Padmini Varkey — prominent social, political, and humanitarian worker, long-time Joint Secretary of the Devaki Variar Memorial, and former President of the Kerala Working Women's Association — has been conferred upon Noor Jaleela

Born without both arms and both legs, Noor Jaleela is a painter, singer, violinist, and palliative care volunteer. A native of Kozhikode, she holds a postgraduate degree in History. Her life partner is P. Haseeb.

The award consists of ?25,000 and a citation.

The award was presented by Padma Shri Dr. M.R. Rajagopal at the event held on December 12, 2024, the death anniversary of Padmini Varkey, at Hassan Marakkar Hall.  

K.K. Krishnakumar delivered the memorial lecture.
