The Devaki Warrier Women's Empowerment Study Centre conducts a literary competition for women every year.  

In 2021and 2024, short story competitions were held based on the themes "Women's Lives During the COVID Period" and "Facebook" respectively. Both years received an enthusiastic response. In 2021, 80 entries were received and in 2024, 116 stories were submitted.

The winners are given the Devaki Warrier Memorial Literary Award comprising ?12,000 and a citation, along with two consolation prizes of ?7,000 each. Renowned literary figures from Kerala served as judges.

This anthology has been compiled by including, in addition to the prize-winning stories, several other notable entries.  A total of 25 storiesare included in it. Paridhi Publications published the book. Dr. Lekha Narendran wrote the foreword. R. Parvathy Devi is the editor. "Pennkathakal" was released by T.N. Seema  by handing over the first copy to Shantha Jose.
